Highest Education: 2010 Master’s Theology (Th.M.) in Old and New Testament Exegesis from a Master’s Theology school, while continuing his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies.

Pastor Zhang came to California from Taiwan in 1985 to study. He obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 1989 and worked at IBM in the US for 13 years. Called by the Lord, he entered an overseas seminary in 2002 for theological training and obtained a Master of Divinity in 2005.

Before studying theology, he served for many years at the San Jose Christian Church, including in the evangelistic group, missionary group, and Sunday school teaching. He also frequently led teams to share the gospel with Chinese students at universities such as UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and UCSF. During his theology studies, he frequently returned to Taiwan during winter and summer breaks to share the gospel with the Hakka community. After graduating from seminary, he pastored the Chinese Evangelical Church in Los Angeles, Kentucky.

Pastor Zhang taught at an overseas seminary from January 2006, serving as a New Testament teacher and participating in pastoral ministry at the San Jose Christian Church Central Church, with a particular emphasis on edifying believers through the Word of God. During the same period, he also participated in campus evangelistic fellowship ministry at UC Berkeley.

In August 2007, Pastor Zhang entered The Master’s Seminary in Los Angeles, Southern California, to pursue a Master of Theology (Th.M.) in Bible Exposition.

In August 2009, Pastor Zhang returned to the overseas seminary to teach, again as a New and Old Testament teacher.

In the summer of 2011, at the behest of Dean Zeng Linfang on his deathbed, Pastor Zhang assumed the position of Vice Dean and Dean of Academic Affairs at the overseas seminary, continuing pastoral ministry at the San Jose Christian Church Central Church, with a particular emphasis on edifying believers through the Word of God. Currently, Pastor Zhang is using his Sabbath year to complete his Doctor of Bible degree.

Pastor Zhang’s teaching philosophy is: “Strive to please God, to be a worker who does not need to be ashamed, and to rightly divide the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
