I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course investigates the difference between the Catholic and the Protestant understandings of the doctrine of humanity, original sin, grace, justification by faith, especially the relationship between predestination and human responsibility in salvation. It also examines the doctrine of trinity, the relationship between the divine and human nature of Christ, and the various understanding of atonement.
本課程探索天主教與基督教對於人、原罪、恩典及因信稱義的教義的理解，特別注意在救恩中神的預定和人的責任的關係。本課程亦會研究三一神、基督神人二性及不同種類的救贖論。

II. COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course attempts to demonstrate the difference and the similarity between the Catholic and the Protestant understanding of salvation and the related issue.
本課程嘗試說明天主教與基督教在救恩及其他有關題目的相同和不同的地方。

III. COURSE SCHEDULE

第四講：天主教與基督教對人的本性的理解：奧古斯丁的供獻、自由意志與自由

第五講：天主教與基督教對稱義的理解(上)：「因信和行為的稱義」、「因行為稱義」、第六講：天主教與基督教對稱義的理解(下)：馬丁路德的「因信稱義」與「神的義」，

第七講：天主教與基督教對得救恩典的理解：「注入恩典」與「外在恩典」
第八講：基督的救贖(上)：「基督勝利說」、「典範說」及「滿足說」救贖論
救贖論如何幫助人宣講佈道式講章和對話
第九講：基督的救贖(下)：「管理說」及「代罰說」救贖論的對話
第十講：基督的神人二性的結合：「從上而下」及「從下而上」的方法
第十一講：基督論的近現代趨勢

III. COURSE REQUIREMENTS
A. Students are required to write a Research Paper either in English or in Chinese (50%) (The paper length should be four thousand words, not including footnotes). In the research paper students are demanded:
1. to present clearly the topic and thesis of their paper (that is, what you want to prove in your paper),
2. to prove your thesis (in this sense, students are required to read the primary source related to their paper)
3. to write and organize their ideas clearly
4. to substantiate their own position
5. if possible, to write a paper, which compares and contrasts two positions in a certain specific theological problem or controversy, and then to spell out your resolution

Dead Line for Submitting and Getting Approve the Topic and Thesis of Your Research Paper with a Detailed Bibliography is on the fifth lesson of this course. Penalty Attached to Late Assignment. Paper would be due on the last day of this semester.

B. One Midterm Examination and One Final Examination (Each 25 %) Midterm Exam would be on the eighth lesson. Final Exam on the last lesson of this course
